S1E5 - Remembering Dad

This week's episode begins with Kris talking about how most people know of her ex husband Robert Kardashian from the defense team on the OJ Simpson trial. It's been four years since his death and every year Kris gathers all the kids to enjoy a dinner at Robert's favorite Armenian restaurant. Rob mentions that his favorite memory of his father was of him coming into his room and saying his prayers with him every night before bed. Kourtney's favorite memory was watching old movies with her father, although she laments that he would never record the ending of the movie properly. Khloé is very quiet because she's still very much not over her father's passing.

The next day the girls are working at Dash. It's very weird to think of them working in a store now. Khloé is getting pissed because she's the only one doing any work, Kourtney is messing around on  the phone and Kim is opening up a package that someone sent her and making a huge mess in the store. Khloé has finally had enough so she tosses Kim's box of clothing out on the street in front of  the store. Kim says "Khloé better get her act together or something really bad is going to happen to her" foreshadowing much? Ooh we get a "The following episode contains recreations of real events" warning, so you know this is going to be juicy! The girls go to a club called "area" and Khloé says that she's going to be an alcoholic tonight. The forshadowing is so thick that an infant would be able to tell how this night is going to end up. After partying it up for a bit, Khloé hops in her car and the extremely predictable happens.

The part that I find strangest is that she admits to the cop that she had 4 drinks meaning she obviously had at least 3 times that many. Actually what I find strangest is that Khloé was apparently willing to let them film a recreation of her darkest hour for the show complete with acting like she was drunk. Khloé obviously fails the field sobriety test miserably, so she gets handcuffed and put in the back of the cruiser (that means police car for any readers not from Massachusetts). Khloé calls Kourtney from Van Nuys Jail to ask her to pick her up, she probably should have chosen someone else as Kourtney is in bed with a big glass of wine during this scene. Maybe Khloé was just looking for a good celly for her time in the clink. Khloé asks Kourtney not to tell Kim or Kris, so Kourtney promptly calls up Kim to tell her. The next morning Kim is working at Dash with Kris and Kris can tell that something is up because Kim is acting nervous and getting a lot more texts than usual. At lunch Kim finally spills the beans.

Kris is quite understandably freaked out that her daughter is in jail, but Kim tries to reassure her that Kourtney is taking care of everything. Kris immediately calls up the family attorney Robert Shapiro (who you might remember from the OJ Simpson trial where he worked with Robert Kardashian). Shapiro is still apparently the family attorney as he's currently helping Rob with that ...bit of unpleasantness with Blac Chyna. Kris shows up at the jail to pick Khloé up and on the drive home Khloé says that she is absolutely not going to tell Bruce about this. Khloé gets home and starts yelling and Kourtney for telling Kris, so Kourtney clarifies that she told Kim and that Kim told Kris. The whole family is there and they all encourage Khloé to get Bruce so that she can tell him what happened, so Khloé brings Bruce into the room and tells him what's up.

Bruce says that it was really stupid of her to get a DUI. Bruce mentions that his brother was killed in a car accident when he was 18. Everyone starts teaming up on Khloé to let her know what a bad decision it was for her to drink and drive. The next morning Kim and Kourtney are working at Dash and discussing how crazy/scary they find Khloé to be at the moment. Khloé is hanging out with Kris in the kitchen and Kris mentions that she notices that Khloé gets this way every year around the anniversary of her father's death. Khloé drives to Dash to make up with her sisters, she got each of them a necklace with a music note on it which apparently Robert had on his keychain. Then it's smiles and hugs all around. Aww this is really sweet! The whole family gets together to watch home movies that Robert filmed and the movies feature Kris in some very questionable 80s glasses.

The episode ends with a nice little montage of home movies in memory or Robert so that was nice I thought.

This episode was definitely an emotional whirlwind with the parts about Robert being very sad whereas the part where Khloé was acting like a hot mess and had to spend the night in the drunk tank were pretty funny. Overall excellent episode though. 9/10.
