S1E2 - Managing Mom
So this episode starts off with Kim saying that Kris has booked her to walk in a fashion show in LA. When they arrive at the show, there's a sign that was handwritten with a marker, this cannot be a good sign!
Kris is angry because at the door they try to get them to show their IDs. Kim says that the show is unorganized and unprofessional. After Kim ditches the end of the show Scott smokes a cigarette in an elevator. Now I'm not aware of California's smoking laws from 2007, but I can't imagine that was legal. Everyone is upset with Kris for booking them at such a crappy event. It was funny to see Kendall and Kylie get into normal little kid "she shoved me!" fights instead of the normal Kardashian drama.
Kris has apparently double booked Kim and Kim is PISSED about it. Bruce is slung down in a chair wondering where everything went wrong in his life.
Apparently Kris was only managing Kim and Bruce at this point. Kris leaves for work and Bruce along with Kendall and Kylie bring Dolce the chihuahua to the vet. The vet demonstrates how to push the dogs penis back inside of it's body and Kendall and Kylie look horrified. Kris and Kourtney are working together at Smooch (I had forgotten that store even existed! cutest store name ever.)
The strange part being that they show Kris actually manning the cash register at Smooch. When she said that she was "going to work" earlier I had assumed that she had meant making calls, getting work for Kim and Bruce, not literally working in retail, that just seems like something that would never happen now.
Bruce takes Kendall and Kylie for a mani/pedi it's one of those scenes that seems a bit awkward today with how Caitlyn mentioned that when she was still Bruce she would regularly paint her toenails. Kim shows up to Dash, where Kourtney was currently working, to complain about Kris booking her for an audition and a magazine cover photo shoot on the same day. Khloé's dress is amazing in this scene! Kourtney and Khloé suggest that Kim at least speak with a professional manager.
Bruce is bringing Kendall and Kylie home from the beach and would love to "go hit some balls" (I forgot his old favorite term for golf), but Kris is still working at Smooch until 6PM so she can't watch the girls. Kris feels bad because Bruce loves to golf, but he can't on his days off because he's always stuck watching Kendall and Kylie, so Kris decides to hire a babysitting firm to watch the girls sometimes so Bruce can have free time. Kris informs Bruce that night that she has hired a nanny starting the next day. Bruce lights up for a moment and asks if this means he can golf all day the next day, but is instantly brought back down when Kris says that he has to train the nanny because she's working.
The next day Kim meets with some professional managers, she feels safe doing this because Kris was working all day, when surprise surprise, Kris walks through the door!
Kim and Khloé are working at Dash and Kim admits to Khloé that she's going to stick with Kris as her manager, but she thinks that Kris needs to get her shit together, so she sends Khloé over to tell Kris that Kim is about to fire her as manager. Predictably this plan backfires when Kris gets super mad, changes her voicemail to say that she was no longer her "ungrateful daughter's" manager and including Kim's personal cell number before storming out.
The new Nanny, Brie, shows up and introduces herself to Bruce, Kendall, and Kylie. Kris decides to take a spa day because she's still super pissed at Kim. Kim is driving and her phone keeps blowing up with calls for Kris. Brie is doing some topless sunbathing rather than watching the girls, Bruce sees this and calls up Kris immediately but he can't reach her because she's having a massage. Now Brie is smoking a cigarette and picking their flowers for herself. She leaves the still burning cigarette in the middle of their walkway, and an increasingly perturbed looking Bruce puts it out and throws it away. Now Brie is snooping through Kris' closet and trying on her jewelry. This girl clearly has no concept of boundaries.
Khloé and Kourtney are working at Dash and complain to Kim that they've been taking her calls all day because Kris is still MIA. Khloé goes to talk to Bruce and meets Brie. Khloé asks Bruce if he wants her to fire Brie but Bruce says that he is waiting to make Kris fire her. Kris finally comes home and meets Brie and immediately asks her to put an actual shirt on. Kris then fires her.
Damn it must suck getting fired on national television!
Kim and Kris sit down to apologize to each other. The sweet apology scene is interrupted by Khloé and Kourtney play-fighting each other in the next room over while Kris and Kim hug it out.
I'll give this episode a 8/10 because it was the first hint of any serious drama in the series with the Kris/Kim fight, and because Brie was so unbelievably shitty providing great entertainment.
